  • SLPS has sold its third school this year! Cook School will be renovated for office space. Earlier this year, we sold Lafayette, which will be converted to apartments, and Windsor, which will be used for a business. Also, L'Ouverture and Wyman reopened as SLPS schools.

Thank you to everyone who attended one of our 31 surplus building tours. We had more than 1,100 visitors join us this past spring and summer! The primary reason for the tours was to collect your feedback on how the buildings could best serve the community in the future. In the weeks to come, we will post plans for each school, based on input from the public and our Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) members.

The Saint Louis Public Schools (SLPS) Building Revitalization Collaborative was established in 2015 to promote the redevelopment of District-owned properties no longer in use as schools.
In the spring and summer of 2015, SLPS held a series of public open houses at the closed schools and is in the process of hosting community forums to discuss possible repurposing scenarios for each property.
By bringing together community stakeholders and a technical advisory committee (TAC) comprised of a variety of experts, SLPS hopes to find creative solutions for these properties that will benefit the District and the St. Louis community as a whole.
TAC members include architects, building planners, preservationists, real estate developers, and representatives from the fields of finance, education, construction and healthcare.
