My name is Darion Robinson and I am the new Family & Community Specialist at Mullanphy-Botanical Gardens Investigative Learning Center. My role includes facilitating parental & community involvement, implementing efforts to improve attendance, facilitating PTO meetings, informing parents about Title 1 laws, and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, district, and school policies. I am dedicated to creating a continuous partnership between family, school, and community.
Research indicates that family involvement in schools increases student achievement on a variety of measures, including higher test scores and grades, better attendance, completion of homework, positive attitudes, and behavior. Part of being involved includes volunteering at school events, attending parent meetings & activities, engaging in positive communication, and various other opportunities. To ensure the safety and well being of our students, all volunteers must apply with the proper forms, including a background check and a letter of reference. The approval process is free of charge and takes approximately 2 weeks.
I am so excited to be at Mullanphy and I look forward to providing valuable resources to all of our families. I would love for you to partner with us to create a wonderful learning environment for our students. I welcome any questions, comments, and concerns and can be reached at Mullanphy, Monday-Friday, during school hours, via email at Darion.Robinson@slps.org, or by phone at 314-772-0994. If there -are any other ways that I can be of assistance, please let me know.
